Description:
World-renowned double bass player, Hiroshi Ikematsu's new direct performance! The sound and technique of world-renowned double bassist Hiroshi Ikematsu, whose music is full of overwhelming song, is unlike any other double bass player in the world. He is also a professor at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and a guest professor at Kunitachi College of Music, where he teaches younger contrabassists. He is also a professor at Tokyo University of the Arts and a guest professor at Kunitachi College of Music, where he teaches younger musicians. Hiroshi Ikematsu is releasing a new album of direct, yet carefully selected pieces. Beginning with Schumann's Violin Sonata No. 1 in A minor, the Arpeggione Sonata, and the Vocalise arranged by the great contrabassist Koussevitzky. The recital was followed by an original contrabass piece, "Elegy," which Ikematsu says is too important for him to record, and R. Strauss' "Ashita! This program is like a full recital. From the opening of the disc, Schumann's passionate song, you are immediately drawn into Ikematsu's music. The technique, tone, and music are so impressive that one forgets that it is a contrabass. In the Arpeggione Sonata, Ikematsu's singing seeps into the beautiful tone of Sakano's piano. The three smaller pieces are all dense and rich, and showcase Ikematsu's music that transcends the instrument of double bass. For piano, Ikematsu welcomes Itoko Sakano, whom he has trusted since they performed together at his debut recital. The dense ensemble is also noteworthy. (1/2) King International
