No — the bumper Requires Surface Prep, so you can install it as-is and paint afterward. Many builders prefer this because it lets you match body color exactly during final bodywork, and the FRP accepts paint without prep issues.

Why does the 2009–2011 version need modification?

Bumper mounting point geometry changed slightly in those model years. You'll need minor fitment adjustments—typically drilling new holes or shaving tabs—to align with the later frame. Earlier models bolt on directly.
