Do I need to apply clear coat, or does this come finished?

The carbon fiber arrives bare. We recommend sanding the panel lightly and applying your choice of clear coat to protect the weave from UV exposure and maintain the finish long-term. A quality UV-protective clear coat will prevent yellowing and keep the gloss consistent with your paint.

Will the edges of the carbon fiber fray or crack without sealing?

Sealing the edges after installation is good practice to prevent moisture ingress and keep the weave structurally tight. Sand the edges smooth, then apply a thin coat of clear or epoxy sealant around the perimeter where the panel meets the body. This step is simple but extends the life of the panel significantly.

What do I need to remove before installation?

Some trunk lid hinges or shock supports may need to be unbolted from the original panel before swapping in the carbon fiber version. Most installations also require removal of the factory glass rear window if equipped. Have a helper on hand and reference your vehicle's service manual for the fastener locations and order of removal.
