SKEDCO WATER FLOTATION SYSTEM COMPLETE – ORANGE

This flotation system maintains the Sked® in a nearly vertical position in the water.

✔It is self-righting and keeps the patient’s head completely out of the water, even in rough seas.

✔The side floats, and the chest pad provides buoyancy sufficient to support two rescuers in the water in addition to the patient, while the lead shot-filled ballast keeps the foot end down and the head elevated out of the water.

✔It has a pair of lift slings that are long enough to accommodate nearly any size patient. They are used to hoist the patient onto a bariatric gurney for transport in the ambulance. Along with the slings, there is also included a large steel carabiner that has a minimum break strength of 9,000 pounds that is used to join the sling ends together and clipped into the hoist mechanism. There is also a tow strap included allowing two more people to assist in dragging.

Water Flotation for Sked Stretcher. Skedco has added a new dimension in litter flotation by developing two systems that enable the Sked Stretcher to float vertically. Vertical flotation reduces the possibility of patient drowning due to capsizing. Flotation of the Sked Stretcher is accomplished with a pair of 5″ diameter Ethafoam logs and an inflatable chest pad. The Ethafoam floats provide approximately 56 lbs. of flotation. To make the Sked float vertically, they use a 15 lbs. ballast in a nylon bag. Two extra-long webbing handles. This flotation is simple to use. An experienced person can package a patient in water in as few as two minutes.
