One of my favorites of the week, purchased from a favorite dealer in Cohoes, NY, whose shop is a treasure trove of interesting things, including tons of photographs. A bit subtle perhaps, but it is I think the subtlety here that makes it: looks to my eye very much as though she is pointing a knife straight at the man beside her, who I certainly take for her husband! The look on her face seems to match her gesture 100% perfectly--calculatingly placid, as if playing the role of the docile housewife to a T, while privately plotting her revenge/liberation!  (And doesn't he look rather smug?) Maybe i'm reading it wrong, but sure feels like a drama, or at least an allegory, to me!
