Suminagashi paper marbling — in which sumi ink is suspended in water and printed onto washi paper — is an ancient and beautiful practice with roots in 12th century Japan.
This kit, made by longtime Japanese-American trading company Yasutomo, contains all the essentials for suminagashi marbling: sumi ink, two small vessels for ink and soapy water, a storage box that doubles as a water tray, two sumi brushes, and 10 sheets of Hosho washi paper.
Clear instructions, with step-by-step photos, are included in the box.
A perfect gift for any artist, or a meditative little project for you :)
Ink and paper made in Japan; other components made in China.
