“The author of this little volume, who was affectionately known to the Inlanders of Australia as Griff, spent over twenty years as patrol padre and later as Director of the Methodist Inland Mission.  As a patrol padre his parish extended from Pine Creek in the Northern Territory, little over a hundred miles south of Darwin, down to Oodnadatta in South Australia, roughly fourteen hundred miles, and the West Australia and Queensland borders over eight hundred miles.”
