France, ca. 1920s-1930s. Four armchairs and five dining chairs painted in gouache on drafting vellum, mounted to three panels of heavy rag paper, 7.5 x 21.5; 6.25 x 21.5; and 7.75 x 7.5 inches. Both longer panels are folded at center, with the last inch of the armchair panel also folded under. Toning and puckering to painted surface, Very Good overall. Stray paint marks on the backside, presumed to be advanced student work mounted for presentation. Wonderful detail and texture in each design, a mix of classic, modern and Art Deco inspirations.
